Are you a wine and food lover ready to embark on a delicious journey in Northern Italy? Look no further than the magnificent region of Veneto! This week is a food and wine lover's delight as we visit numerous wineries in the Valpolicella and Soave area. Enjoy private cooking classes, exclusive excursions, and an Italian bar crawl sipping our way through Verona's wine bars. We will be based the entire week in the beautiful city of Verona, unpack just once, so relax knowing you will not be bussed off to another city for the night. Our week is filled with plenty of day trips and excursions to expose us to this wonderful region. Get to know the Valpolicella area as we visit, cook, sample and tour this wine-producing area in depth. Valpolicella is Italy's second largest wine-producing area, second only to Chianti. We will also visit a winery in Soave and sample their delicious white wines. Plenty of visits to food and wine producers throughout the week will allow us to enjoy the best this region has to offer. An informative guided tour of Verona will introduce us to this city, filled with history, culture and charm. Roll up your sleeves as we take part in several private cooking classes and savor plenty of Amarone along the way. And let's not forget Venice! We'll spend a full day exploring the markets, canals and sites, with plenty of time on your own to do as you wish. Perhaps shop for some souvenirs, or hop on a gondola ride with your loved one. Meet my personal colleagues and friends who have made food and wine their life's mission! This week is sure to please all Italian food, wine and culture lovers!
The Gondolas are ready to take you on a most romantic ride.
Day 1 - Benvenuti!
Arrive in Verona and check in your hotel, conveniently located within minutes from all of Verona's main attractions. Settle in for the week, and rest assured that you will only have to unpack just once. Ward off jet lag by visiting Piazza Erbe or Piazza Bra' for a gelato, both with a few short minutes from our hotel. In the evening, we will meet as a group for our first wine tasting and dinner.

Day 2 - Serego Alighieri / Masi Winery Cooking Class + Culture Tour of Verona
Roll up your sleeves and grab your aprons as we head towards our first cooking class of the week with my friends at Serego Alighieri. Located in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, the Serego Alighieri estate is the oldest cellar in Valpolicella. The property is still owned by a descendent of the famous poet, Dante Alighieri. Sitting beautifully on the hills of Valpolicella area, our day includes a memorable cooking class with the esteemed chef of the villa, a walk through the gardens and vines, and a stop at the cellars, which are perfumed by the smell of cherry wood barrels, used according to tradition. We will have ample opportunity to sample the Masi wines, and perhaps purchase a few bottles to take home. Or grab a jar of their famous cherry jam, produced from the cherries grown right on the property.
After our excursion, we return to Verona and walk off our lunch during a guided tour of our host city. Get to know Verona well with an in-depth tour of the sites, sounds and history. My friends Lorella and Valeria, our certified, multi-lingual guides, will welcome us to their city and take us along to the Roman Arena, Piazza Bra', Juliet's house, Piazza Dei Signori and so much more.
The Serego Alighieri + Masi Winery property welcomes you.
Day 3 - Cooking Class at Riseria Ferron + Tasting at Villa Mosconi Bertani
For more than 300 years, and after 5 generations, Riseria Ferron has been growing rice and sharing its tradition with visitors and students alike. Rice is a staple in the Veneto region and risotto is believed to have been born here. Today, we learn all there is to know about rice cultivation and also take part in a hands-on cooking class with the menu all based on this naturally gluten-free staple. Meet my personal friends as they welcome us on their property with arms wide open.
After a delicious lunch, we head towards Villa Mosconi Bertani and Tenuta Santa Maria. After a beautiful guided tour of the villa, the gardens, park, vineyards and historic cellars, we will sample their famous wines, including Amarone Classico Riserva and Valpolicella Classico Superiore.

Day 4 - Cooking Class at Corte San Mattia + Tasting of Soave Wines at Monte Tondo
It's time to grab the aprons again as we prepare for our next cooking lesson at a typical working agriturismo. An agriturismo is a working farm, beautifully restored to welcome visitors from near and far. Beautifully overlooking Verona, Corte San Mattia welcomes its visitors for meals prepared with locally sourced ingredients, not to mention, their own wines. Owned and operated by a young couple, the agriturismo offers visitors authenticity and welcomes guests like family.
After our hand-made lunch, we head towards the small wine-producing town of Soave, as we visit my personal friends at Monte Tondo. We will enjoy a guided tour of their vineyards and sample their delicious white wines, alongside some locally made treats.

Day 5 - Tommasi Winery Estate + Pub Crawl
The Tommasi Family open their door to us today as we visit, sample and enjoy lunch at their century-old winery. After an informative tour and tasting, we will enjoy a delicious lunch, freshly prepared by the house chefs, paired with some of their best wines, of course. Learn the history, art and tradition that makes this winery one of the most reputable one in the area.
Are you tired of wine yet? We didn't think so, that's why we have a special pub crawl planned for this evening! Enjoy a guided tour of the local Veronese bar scene as we visit local osterie(taverns) and sample some more local wine! We will also learn the historical reasons for the creation of wine taverns, as well as what best foods to accompany these wines! This tour is not for the shy or faint of heart!
The Tommasi Family is ready to welcome us.
Day 6 - Venezia
Today needs no introduction as we head towards one of Italy's most beautiful and most visited cities, Venice! Enjoy a blend of guided time as well as some time on your own to explore this city built on water. After a delicious walk enjoying some cichetti, which are typical Venetian snacks, you will have some time on your own to explore as you see fit. Enjoy some shopping time, time for exploration or a gondola ride. We will meet for dinner at one of my favorite Venetian restaurants.
