Perhaps walk to the nearby beach for a morning swim or alternatively, take a walk to familiarize yourself with the surroundings. Tropea's historic center has many cafes, shops and restaurants. The town has three viewing platforms, where you can sit and enjoy a morning coffee overlooking the sea and the famous landmark of the town such as the promenade, where the church of Santa Maria Del Isola is situated.
In the afternoon, we'll head towards Pizzo Calabro, a beautiful coastal town and birthplace of the tartufo gelato.
Day 3 - Day Trip to Reggio Calabria & Scilla After breakfast today, we head towards Reggio Calabria to visit the famous Bronze di Riaci statues, which are two famous life size bronze sculptures that came from Greece and date back centuries. They are two of the few remaining Greek bronzes, as others were later melted down. The statues demonstrate the craftsmanship and exquisite artistic features possible during this period, which is believed to be 450 B.C. The statues were found by the sea in Riace in 1972.
Then we visit Scilla, a beautiful and picturesque seaside town. We will stroll through the old fishing village where houses sit right on the water and learn about the history of the town. A delicious lunch awaits us in Scilla, before heading back to Tropea, where you can enjoy the rest of your day at your leisure.
